Job Duties:
The Director of Clinical Experiences position is responsible for administrative activities related to the Teacher Education Services Department to include Field Experiences, Internship Experiences and Teacher Certification. This position reports directly to the College of Education Dean.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide administrative support to the College of Education Dean
  • Serve as a member of the College of Education Leadership Team
  • Provide administrative leadership for the Teacher Education Services Department
  • Support daily operations of the Teacher Education Services Department
  • Complete annual evaluations for the Teacher Education Services Department
  • Approve monthly time sheets for Teacher Education Services staff members
  • Oversee and update all areas of the Teacher Education Services website
  • Supervise the Field Experience and Internship placements
  • Organize meetings with P12 school partners
  • Oversee the Teacher Education Program (TEP) application procedures. Responsible for the completion and submission of student certification packets to the State Department of Education
  • Oversee fingerprinting and negative TB skin test procedures
  • Oversee Praxis and AECTP test data uploads
  • Oversee the student filing system
  • Serve as the Certification Officer and complete tasks related to certification
  • Oversee updates to Alabama State Department Approved Program Checklists for all majors that lead the certification
  • Organize and conduct the Certification Seminar fall and spring semesters
  • Serve as the Chair of the Substitution Committee
  • Serve as a member of the Curriculum Committee for COE
  • Attend Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (ALACTE) - Alabama State Department meetings, Montgomery, AL
  • Attend Certification Officers and Personnel in Education (COPE) - Alabama State Department meetings, Montgomery, AL
  • Attend Continuous Improvement in Educator Preparation (CIEP) - Alabama State Department meetings, Montgomery, AL
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to changing work scope and tasks based on need
  • Actively works towards building cooperative and collaborative relationships with peers and internal faculty and staff
  • Maintains open door to internal and external customers
  • Identifies opportunities for improvements to work practices and offers viable solutions for implementation
  • Proactively engages in problem solving related to tasks in this position with internal and external people
  • Routinely practices self-monitoring by assessing self to make improvements or take corrective action to improve performance
  • Completes other tasks as assigned



    Required Qualifications:
    Qualifications Required:
    Masters degree in education
    Evidence of a collegial leadership style
    Ability to organize and work independently
    Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain positive working relationships

    Qualifications Preferred:
    Experience with accreditation requirements
    Experience with the Alabama State Department of Education Teacher Certification process
    Doctorate degree in education or in field related
    Experience with database software and Argos
    Experience in using Banner and Excel
